A visit to Vaal Mall by Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi and a group of delegates yesterday confirmed that the mall is safely complying with lockdown regulations.
The visit was part of the province’s drive to assess if public spaces, such as shopping malls, are adhering to COVID-19 regulations. It included monitoring compliance with Alert Level 4 regulations, as well as social distancing, wearing masks, sanitising shoppers’ hands and the mall’s hygiene and cleaning protocols. The delegation also checked retailers’ expiry dates on food and looked out for excessively priced goods
During the visit, the delegates found that Vaal Mall complies in all these areas, highlighting the wide-ranging precautions that this mall has taken to comply with regulations and mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
“Vaal Mall is taking all the necessary measures to keep the mall safe and clean for our shoppers. We are pleased that yesterday’s visit by MEC Lesufi confirmed this,” says General Manager of Vaal Mall, Shana Maree-Paraskevopoulos.
She adds, “Compliance with the new COVID-19 containment measures is a massive undertaking for shopping malls, and we thank our team and our partners for going above and beyond to safeguard the health of everyone at Vaal Mall. We also applaud our retailers for taking the necessary measures to keep our customers safe.”
