Sandton Central recently revealed its fresh new logo and brand, which represent the strength, movement, heart and energy of South Africa’s financial capital.
Putting this energy into action, Sandton Central held its first public awareness drive, delighting commuters on the corner of Grayston Drive and Rivonia Road by giving them bookmarks and reusable water bottles.
Sandton Central Management District (SCMD) manages the public urban spaces of Sandton Central, which is home to three business improvement districts. Commercial property owners are the driving force behind these improvement initiatives to ensure an exceptional experience of this economic powerhouse in fast-paced Johannesburg.
SCMD City Improvement Manager Elaine Jack, says, “We are all about a well-managed central financial district. While this means working for a clean, safe, smooth-running precinct, our purpose is crafting a place for everyone to enjoy, whether they live, work, play or visit here.”
“This was the first in a series of public awareness drives that we have planned. We want people to feel the energy of Sandton Central and the passion of the people who look after its public spaces. It is really something special and, by sharing it through our awareness drive, we were able to add a little spark of joy to people’s days,” adds Jack.
The heart of Sandton Central is its duo of friendly, helpful ambassador teams. Both were on hand to give out the reusable water bottles and bookmarks as a random act of kindness.
Sandton Central’s team of 50 public safety ambassadors operate in the precinct day and night, and its 19 cleaning and maintenance staff operate on weekdays. Easily identifiable, these ‘Men in Red’ as they are fondly known because of their red uniforms, are on the frontline of its safety, cleanliness, maintenance and landscaping programme.
And, as one of South Africa’s top-visited tourist destinations, its 12 multilingual tourism ambassadors are based outside the Sandton Gautrain station. From the new Sandton Central Tourist Kiosk this team gives visitors a warm, friendly welcome, and also offers assistance at key tourism sites in the area.
These two amazing teams work closely together. The Men in Red step in to assist at the Tourist Kiosk after hours while Sandton Central’s tourism ambassadors are also trained in public safety
